Art Rules/Expectations
A-Always be … a good listener, ready to learn, safe, positive, and creative
R-Respect others and the art materials
T-Try your best first and then ask for help
I-Instructions-listen and follow all instructions
S-Stay in your seat to finish your work and not waste time
T-Talk quietly and not too much!!!
Minor Incidents
In order to have a successful year and to be able to do fun and exciting things in art,
I want to share some of my expectations. I would like all students to come to class
ready to learn, explore and create. This works best when students are focused on
their work and not disturbing others by talking loudly or excessively. If an Art room
rule is broken, 2nd-5th grade students may need to have a warning, seat change, sit aside
for a few minutes or complete a form which asks them to reflect
on what rule they broke, why, and what they should have done differently, depending on the situation.
If the student brings this form home, please sign it and return it in my mailbox in the office.
For Kindergarten and 1st grade students breaking class rules, they will sit aside for a few
minutes and should be able to tell me what happened, why they behaved the way they did
and what they should do next time. Depending on the situation, they may also have form come home telling what happened in their own words or pictures.
Major Incidents
Some incidents are considered major or severe and will need immediate attention. In such
cases parents may need to be called. If a child does not cooperate and complete a reflection
form or if they are not able to discuss the incident that occurred, I may also need to call home.
Art Awards
I will be recognizing student's positive behavior and hard work with Amazing Artist Awards. At the end of each class, I hope to give two awards. By the end of the year every student will have been recognized. Some students may receive more than one. I will sometimes ask students to recognize other students with an award as well.
